Bishop Caggianowas born in Brooklyn, New York, March 29, 1959.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy fromCathedral College, Queens, New York; a master of divinity from Immaculate ConceptionSeminary, Huntington, New York, and a licentiate and doctorate in theology fromthe Gregorian University, Rome.
He was ordained a priest for the Brooklyn Diocese in1987, named a papal chaplain with the title Monsignor in 2003 and named anauxiliary bishop of Brooklyn in 2006.
The BridgeportDiocese includes 633 square miles. The diocese has 925,899 people, with 410,834,or 44 percent of them, Catholic.
