WASHINGTON—Catholics will be asked “How do you prepare for Christmas?” and encouraged to share photos in exchange for a new book series on Pope Francis from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The question and book giveaway will be posted at www.facebook.com/usccb beginning December 1, the first Sunday of Advent.
Every day of Advent, USCCB will give a copy of The Simple Wisdom of Pope Francis collection, from USCCB Publishing, to one random person who submitted a photo to show he or she is preparing for Christmas. On Christmas day, USCCB will give a $200 gift card for use in USCCB’s online bookstore.
“Advent is a season of preparation, whether it’s in prayer, decorating the home or packing bags for a long trip to visit family. Whatever it is, simply snap a picture and share it with us so we can prepare together,” said Matthew Kilmurry, USCCB director of marketing.
To enter the contest, users should visit www.USCCB.org/Advent.
The site also features the USCCB interactive Advent calendar packed with daily tips and videos to help people prepare for the celebration of the birth of Christ.
Visitors are urged to stop by each day to “open” the next door to find another thoughtful way to experience Advent with friends and family.
The Simple Wisdom of Pope Francis Series, two brief books of homespun messages of Pope Francis, has been released by the U. S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Communications Department. The first, on hope, is 66 pages; the second, on evangelization, is 73. The two books together are available for $11.95 plus shipping.
