USCCB’s Justice for Immigrants Conference to be Held in Chicago, November 11-13

 WASHINGTON—Over 300 participants from 64 dioceses and archdioceses will gather in Chicago, November 11-13, to participate in the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Justice for Immigrants Conference, "Moving Forward: Immigration in 2016 and Beyond." The conference will focus upon on migration issues which that will confront the Church and nation in the months and years ahead.

Archbishop Blase J. Cupich of Chicago will deliver the keynote address on Wednesday, November 11, at 7 p.m. Donna M. Carroll, president of Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois, will deliver the lunch keynote on Thursday, November 12, at 1 p.m.

The conference will include several panels on topics including strategies for pushing immigration reform legislation in 2016 and the next Congress; policy responses to the migration of children and families from Central America; immigrant integration initiatives; and the reform of the U.S. immigrant detention system. Panel presentations will be given by experts from several organizations including the Archdiocese of Chicago, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services.
