Pope Names New Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia
WASHINGTON—Pope Francis has named Msgr. Edward Deliman, a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as an auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese. Msgr. Deliman, 68, currently serves as pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

The appointment was publicized in Washington, May 31, by Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, apostolic nuncio to the United States.
Edward Deliman was born March 4, 1947 in Lorain, Ohio. He pursued seminary studies at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor's degree (1969), and a master of divinity degree (1973).
He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on May 19, 1973 and Pope John Paul II named him monsignor in 1991. Msgr. Deliman will be ordained a bishop on August 18.
Assignments after ordination included: assistant pastor of several parishes: St. Joseph Parish, Cheltenham, 1973-1977; St. Clement Parish, Philadelphia, 1977-1978; St. John Bosco Parish, Hatboro, 1978-1983; and St. Agnes Parish, West Chester, 1983-1986; parochial vicar, Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, 1986-1991. He also served as pastor of: St. Bonaventure Parish, Philadelphia, 1991-1993; Visitation B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia, 1993-2003; St. Agnes Parish, 2003-2009; St. Martin of Tours Parish, Philadelphia, 2009-2011; Our Lady of Fatima, Bensalem, 2011-2014; and Saint Charles Borromeo, Bensalem, 2014-present.
Other assignments include: advocate, Metropolitan Tribunal, 1979-1980; associate director, Archdiocesan Office for Youth and Young Adults, 1982-1983; defender of the bond, archdiocesan metropolitan tribunal, 1983-1993; associate director, Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry, 1988-1991; spiritual director, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, 2001-2006; priest vocation coordinator, 2005-2009; member, Diocesan Priest Continuing Formation Committee, 2006-2009; member, diocesan presbyteral council, 2010-2011.
