USCCB Looks Forward to Working with White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative

WASHINGTON–Yesterday, on the National Dayof Prayer, President Trump signed an Executive Order announcing theestablishment of the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative.

Jonathan Reyes, Ph.D., USCCB AssistantGeneral Secretary for Integral Human Development, stated the following:

"We look forward to working with the WhiteHouse on its Faith and Opportunity Initiative. Overcoming poverty andchallenging other social problems like the opioid crisis takes all hands-ondeck. The faith community has collaborated with government partners inthis country at the federal, state, and local levels for a very long time. We pray that we will continue to have the freedom and the space to serve theleast of these, as the Gospel mandates."
