Music for the Order of Religious Profession
Introduction
"Many of the faithful, called by God, are consecrated to the service of the Lord and the good of humanity by the sacred vows of religion. They strive to follow Jesus Christ more closely by observing the evangelical counsels; and in this way, the grace of Baptism brings forth in them more abundant fruit… The Church herself receives the vows of those making religious profession. By her public prayer she begs for them help and grace from God; she commends them to God and obtains for them spiritual blessing uniting their offering to the Eucharistic Sacrifice."
— The Order of Religious Profession, nos. 1-2
The Order of Religious Profession, being implemented in religious communities in the United States in 2025-2026, is enriched with many chant settings for the actions connected with the temporary profession and perpetual profession of religious men and women.
To assist choirs and in the preparation of worship aids, the various chants are made available here. For easier reference and use, the titles of some chant settings on this webpage vary slightly from those found in the ritual book.
The following music and texts may be reproduced free of charge in printed form, for non-commercial purposes, in publications not for sale, by parishes, dioceses, schools, and religious communities, provided that the copyright acknowledgment which appears at the foot of each page is included.
