National Black Catholic Congress XII: WWHSH Reflection
Video reflection from pastoral letter from 1984.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of "What We Have Seen and Heard." Check it out to see what the bishops were saying 40 years ago.
On September 9, 1984, the ten Black Bishops of the United States published this document as a witness to the Black community. The bishops sought to explain that evangelization is both a call and a response, it is not only preaching but witnessing. The first part of the document is about the shared gifts rooted in the African heritage. In part two they discussed the obstacles to evangelization that must be overcome.
