The Subcommittee on the Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees and Travelers is under the direction of and assists the Committee on Cultural Diversity within the Church by working directly with the standing committee and collaboratively with other USCCB committees to support the pastoral care of migrants, refugees and travelers. This mandate includes the following areas of responsibility: The subcommittee, based on available resources, is responsible to assist and support dioceses, national organizations, and movements in the pastoral care of migrants, refugees, and travelers. At the request of the standing committee, the subcommittee works collaboratively with the other subcommittees and with the Committee on Migration.

We are delighted that you are interested in accessing information about the Subcommittee’s work to assist and support pastoral care to diverse ethnic communities of African-Caribbean, Brazilian and European Catholics as well as to people on the move such as: mariners and fishers, airport workers and travelers, circus and traveling show folks and migrant farmworkers.
The Catholic Church affirms the gifts and contributions that newcomer immigrants, refugees and people on the move offer and she encourages them to fuller participation in the evangelizing mission of the Church. The Subcommittee on PCMRT is committed to carry on its mandate "to support the pastoral care of migrants, refugees and travelers” by working directly with and under the direction of the Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church and collaboratively with other USCCB committees.

The Subcommittee on the Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees and Travelers is one of the five subcommittees of the Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church. Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, M.Sp.S, chairman of the Subcommittee on PCMRT and the bishops of this subcommittee, endeavor to enflesh its mission to support the pastoral outreach to newcomer immigrants, refugees and people on the move Catholics from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. As staff to the Subcommitteessist the bishops in their work as part of the team in the Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church.
