Annual National Workshop on Christian Unity

This year’s National Workshop on Christian Unity took place in Saint Louis from April 1 to 4. The theme of the meeting was, “Building the Beloved Community:  A Call to Holiness.” As usual, the workshop included lectures and seminars on a wide variety of topics of ecumenical and interreligious concern. The session that gained perhaps the most interest was a presentation on the Catholic-Pentecostal Dialogue by Rev. Cecil Robeck, Professor of Church History and Ecumenics at Fuller seminary, and Dr. Teresa Francesca Rossi, Associate Director of the Centro Pro Unione in Rome.

The theologian in residence this year was Brother Emile from the Taizé Community in France. During the ample time that was set aside for personal and communal prayer, Brother Emile introduced the participants to the form of prayer practiced at Taize.

As usual, the Workshop was combined with the annual meeting of the Catholic Association of Diocesan Ecumenical and Intereligious Officers (CADEIO). This meeting marked the end of Jan Skrehot’s term as CADEIO president. To succeed her, the members elected Fr. Don Rooney, Ecumenical Officer of the Diocese of Arlington.
