Advent Reflections from Churches for Middle East Peace (2008)
Advent Resource for Peace in the Holy Land offers reflections and prayers for Middle East Peace.
Advent invites Christians to embrace a season of hopeful expectation, connecting our anticipation of Christ’s coming with the deep longing for a just and lasting peace in the Holy Land. Throughout the four Sundays of Advent, U.S. Christians are encouraged to pray for Jews, Christians, and Muslims in the region and to engage in prayerful reflection.
The Holy Land holds sacred significance for all three Abrahamic faiths, yet decades of conflict have inflicted violence and hardship on both Israelis and Palestinians. Christians, in particular, face mounting pressures—political, economic, and social—that are driving many to emigrate. A stable, durable peace agreement is vital for the future well-being of every community in the region.
This Advent resource includes scripture passages, reflection and prayers to reflect upon during the four weeks of Advent.
