Bridging the USCCB Ministry Frameworks

Over the years, the USCCB has promulgated a number of documents related to the Church's ministries with young people. In light of its most recent document, Listen, Teach, Send: A National Pastoral Framework for Ministries with Youth and Young Adults, this page includes resources that will showcase the connections and bridges (and distinctions) between this new document and past statements by the U.S. Bishops.

Listen, Teach, Send does not replace or diminish previous efforts by the USCCB regarding youth and young adults. Rather, it builds upon the past and adds to the Catholic Church's rich tradition and wisdom, while also being mindful of recent developments and learnings, in particular through the synodal listening processes with young people and those who accompany them.

The two that are listed thus far are making the connection between Listen, Teach, Send and the USCCB documents on:

  • Ministry with young adults, as articulated in Sons and Daughters of the Light: A Pastoral Plan for Ministry with Young Adults (1996) - see the resource here
  • Ministry with adolescent youth and teens, as articulated in Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry (1997) - see the resource here

NOTE: As these "bridging" resources are developed, they will be posted here. Not all are available at this time. Stay tuned for more.
