The Great Dechurching, with Ryan Burge

We are currently experiencing the largest and fastest religious shift in US history. Ryan Burge, who contributed to the book The Great Dechurching, by Jim Davis and Michael Graham, joins Mary and Aaron to talk about who's leaving, why they are going, and what it will take to bring them back.

Ryan Burge is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Eastern Illinois University.  His research focuses primarily on religiosity and political behavior in the United States, and he is the author of The Nones: Where They Came From, Who They Are, and Where They Are Going, which just had a second edition published in 2023 and 20 Myths About Religion and Politics in America.  He is also a pastor in the American Baptist Church and has served his current congregation for over 15 years.
