Llamados a la solidaridad mundial: Retos internacionales para las parroquias de estados unidos

Called to Global Solidarity: International Challenges for U.S. Parishes, A Statement by the United States Catholic Conference, November 12, 1997 (in Spanish)

In a time of dramatic global challenges and changes, Catholics in the United States face unique responsibilities and opportunities. We are members of a Church that transcends national borders and calls us to live in solidarity and justice with the peoples of the world. We are also citizens of a powerful democracy with enormous influence far beyond our borders. As Catholics and as Americans, we are uniquely called to global responsibility.

One of God's greatest gifts is the universal character of the Church, blessing us and calling us to live in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in faith. Our faith community already practices solidarity in many ways every day. Missionaries preach the Gospel and celebrate the Eucharist. Workers in Catholic organizations feed the hungry and promote development. Our prayers, donations, and volunteers help the Church in Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa. The U.S. Catholic Conference and other Catholic groups defend human rights, promote global justice, and seek peace.
