Respect Life Month: Simple Steps
Visit our Respect Life Month page for these and other resources!
Consider these five simple steps for celebrating Respect Life Month, either the weekend of Respect Life Sunday (October 7, 2018) or another weekend in October.
1. Display the poster where people will be most likely to see it.
2. Use the bulletin announcement and bulletin cover or wrapper, and insert the reflection flyer into the bulletin.
3. Preach on the Respect Life theme "Every Life: Cherished, Chosen, Sent." Consider using the reflection flyer and sample homily helps as inspiration.4. Pray for the protection of human life during the Prayer of the Faithful. Sample intercessions are provided.
5. Invite parishioners to reflect the rest of the week on the theme and what it means to them personally.Other Resources & Ideas
Reflection Flyer
ORDER / DOWNLOADUse the reflection (in whole or in part) in the
pastor's reflection in the bulletin.
Print the 2018-19 reflection in the bulletin, and invite parishioners to submit a few sentences on what the theme means to them. Print the submissions (with their permission) in the parish bulletin throughout the year.
Articles
Available in print and in multiple formats online! (Double-sided bulletin insert, 1/4 page summary, Word document, and webpage.)Feature a new article each month. With efforts concentrated to one weekend or spread throughout the month...
Incorporate points from one of the articles into a homily.
Coordinate with parish staff to make the article available to parishioners, and tell the congregation during the homily and pulpit announcements where it can be found.
Use part or all of it in the pastor's corner of the bulletin.
For example, consider "Bridges of Mercy for Healing after Abortion" as you prepare to give a homily on mercy. In the homily, mention that help is available for those who suffer after abortion and share www.hopeafterabortion.org in the homily, announcements, and bulletin.
