Welcome to the Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church monthly publication of exclusive news, resources, events, training's, tips and more.
Journey Together is a process of dialogue and encounter focused on the Church’s ministry with youth and young adults that fosters understanding and trust within and across cultural families toward a more welcoming and just community of faith.
The program is to offer ministry leaders an opportunity to achieve a basic level of awareness and proficiency in the area of intercultural competency through the five guidelines recommended by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church.
Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) are among the fastest growing minority groups impacting American society and the Catholic Church as well. The diversity in language, customs, traditions, and values enriches and at the same time challenges the Church in the pastoral care of API communities.
The Subcommittee on African American Affairs is the official voice of the African American Catholic community. The subcommittee attends to the needs and aspirations of African American Catholics regarding issues of pastoral ministry, evangelization, social justice, worship, development of leaders, and other areas of concern.
The Subcommittee on Hispanic Affairs is under the direction of and assists the Committee on Cultural Diversity within the Church by working collaboratively with the committee and other USCCB committees to affirm the gifts and contributions of Hispanic Catholics and to provide more opportunities for Hispanic Catholics to engage in the life of the Church and help shape its evangelization mission.
The Subcommittee on the Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees and Travelers support’s the pastoral care of migrants, refugees, and travelers. This mandate includes the following areas of responsibility: The subcommittee, based on available resources, is responsible to assist and support dioceses, national organizations, and movements in the pastoral care of migrants, refugees, and travellers.
The Subcommittee on Native American Affairs addresses the pastoral concerns of Native American (North American Aboriginals) Catholics to affirm the gifts and contributions of Native American Catholics and to provide more opportunities for Native American Catholics to engage in the life of the Church and help shape its evangelization mission.
