Annual Report
Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa (SFCA)
The 2024 Annual Report of the Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa (SFCA), sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), highlights the fund's impactful support for the rapidly growing Catholic Church across Africa. Through generous contributions totaling over $3.7 million from national collections and investments, the SFCA awarded $2.6 million in grants to 96 priority ministries, focusing on areas like construction and renovation (25%), leadership formation (23%), and evangelization (10%). Key projects included equipping lay evangelists with bicycles in the Central African Republic to reach remote families, training youth in peacebuilding amid extremism in Togo, promoting Vatican II teachings during the 2025 Jubilee Year in Uganda, and strengthening marriages nationwide in Kenya inspired by Pope Francis' Amoris Laetitia. Chaired by Auxiliary Bishop Peter L. Smith of Portland, the initiative empowers African dioceses to address pastoral, social, and spiritual challenges, fostering faith, hope, and love while inviting continued partnerships through donations to sustain this vital work.
