Pope Leo XIV Appoints Most Reverend Brendan Cahill as Bishop of Joliet

WASHINGTON – Pope Leo XIV has appointed Most Reverend Brendan J. Cahill, currently Bishop of Victoria in Texas, as the Bishop of Joliet.

The appointment was publicized in Washington, D.C. on September 17, 2026, by Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

The Diocese of Joliet is comprised of 4,218 square miles in the State of Illinois.
