Leader Resources
Below you will find a collection of resources that can be used to assist you in planning youth and young adult events before, during, and after the Feast of Christ the King on November 26th. Contained are guidebooks on how to plan events and how to be aware of the different aspects of the communities of young people you may invite, as well as guides for liturgical celebrations and a prayer for youth and young adults.
The Global Celebration of Young People: Resource Guidebook
The USCCB encourages every Catholic community to set aside the Solemnity of Christ the King to participate in the Global Celebration of Young People at the local level. Whether in big ways or small, communities can celebrate, reflect upon, and acknowledge the gift that youth and young adults bring to the Church and to the world.
To support these efforts, the USCCB has developed a special Guidebook and other resources for pastoral leaders.
- USCCB National Pastoral Guidebook for for the Global Celebration of Young People (English)
- USCCB Guía Nacional Pastoral para la Celebración Global de la Juventud (Español)
- Abbreviated Guidebook (English): Special 10-page version for those seeking a quick overview of this initiative. Embedded links within this version link to the longer-form Guidebook.
- Christ the King Liturgical Guide (English): The Guidebook liturgical section for use during Masses prior to and inclusive of Christ the King Sunday. Includes homily notes, petitions for the Prayer of the Faithful, optional blessings, and liturgical considerations.
- A Prayer for Youth and Young Adults (English): The one-page USCCB-approved prayer that can be used for young people year-round, inspired by the Global Celebration of Young People.
- Una oración por la juventud (Español): La oración de una página aprobada por la USCCB que se puede usar para los jóvenes durante todo el año, inspirada en la Celebración Global de los Jóvenes.
- What can a Catholic community do? (English): A one-page list of ideas for parishes, campuses, and local churches on how they can celebrate youth and young adults around Christ the King Sunday.
- NOTE: If you would like to purchase full-color and bound hard copies of the above Guidebooks and other resources, contact Paul Jarzembowski at the USCCB to inquire about printing and shipping costs and other details.
The English and Spanish editions of the Guidebook was prepared in consultation with a culturally diverse team of pastoral leaders accompanying young people (both youth and young adults) in parishes, dioceses, college campuses, religious communities, academic institutions, and national ministry organizations, and with the insight from the Vatican Dicastery on Laity, Family and Life.
